Professional Drone Filming and Aerial Photography in South Wales

South Wales Video provides commercial drone filming and aerial photography for businesses, agencies and organisations across Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, the wider South Wales region and projects throughout the UK. We create purposeful aerial footage for marketing films, property, construction, tourism, television and corporate communications.

Flights are planned and carried out by a qualified, commercially insured operator holding GVC and A2 CofC qualifications. Before filming, we assess the location, airspace, weather and practical requirements so the work can be completed safely and within current UK aviation rules.

Aerial footage that fits the wider production

We record detailed 4K drone video and high-resolution still photographs, either as a standalone aerial service or alongside our ground-based cameras. Combining both approaches gives your finished film stronger context, scale and visual variety while keeping the production coordinated through one team.

Typical projects include construction progress, civil engineering, roads and infrastructure, commercial property, factories, renewable energy sites, tourism destinations, outdoor events, roof inspections and establishing shots for film and television. Footage can be delivered as edited sequences, photographs or carefully organised files for your own production team.

DRONE FAQ

Can you fly anywhere?

No — all drone flights must be safe, legal, and suitable for filming.

We don’t operate in high-risk environments such as busy public areas (e.g. supermarket car parks), crowded events, or from moving platforms like boats.

We assess every job in advance and will advise honestly. If a location isn’t suitable, we’ll suggest alternative approaches where possible.

Emergency or search jobs?

No — we don’t provide search, rescue, or emergency drone services.

This includes requests such as locating lost animals, night searches, or last-minute callouts. Our work is focused on planned filming and photography projects where safety, permissions, and conditions can be properly assessed in advance.

What do you need to proceed?

To plan properly, we’ll need:

  • A what3words location (exact take-off point)
  • Clear instructions on what you want filmed
  • The purpose of the footage (e.g. promo, overview, social clips)
  • How you want it edited or used

We plan each flight around the final edit, so having this clear upfront ensures we capture the right shots efficiently.

Do you travel?

Yes — we travel where needed. We also have trusted contacts in North Wales and as far as North Scotland, allowing us to cover projects efficiently without unnecessary travel where possible.

How much do you charge?

It depends on the scope of the project:

  • Simple inspections (e.g. house or roof, local) are typically low hundreds
  • Larger shoots with multiple flight positions require more planning and time
  • Full production projects (editing, titles, voice-over, ground footage) are quoted based on requirements

All work is priced individually to match the brief.

What if weather prevents the launch?

Drone filming / photography is weather-dependent. For early starts or long-distance travel, a clear weather window must be confirmed in advance before setting off.

If conditions are uncertain and a suitable window cannot be agreed, filming will be rescheduled.

This avoids unnecessary travel and ensures the shoot can be completed properly.

What do you deliver?

Every assignment is different, and we always shoot with the final use in mind — whether that’s a small set of key images, a short video montage, or coverage for a specific purpose.

Deliverables can include:

  • Raw photo and video files (HD or 4K)
  • Edited video (e.g. montage, highlights, or specific use case)
  • Selected still images (where required)

Due to file size, raw 4K video is typically supplied on USB rather than via upload.

We’ll agree the intended outcome in advance so everything is captured and delivered accordingly.
