MULTI-FORMAT VIDEO PRODUCTION SOUTH WALES

Multi-Format Video Production for Business

Film once. Plan the versions before the shoot.

Business video now has to work in more than one place. A website film may need to become a LinkedIn edit, a vertical Reel, a feed advert and a mobile website banner.

We plan those outputs before filming so the composition, movement and supporting footage are useful in every version you actually need.

THE COMMISSIONING QUESTION WHERE WILL PEOPLE WATCH IT?

The platform now affects how the camera should frame the shot

Tell us where the finished content will appear

You do not need to arrive with camera specifications. Tell us whether the footage is for a website, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Shorts, paid social or a mobile banner.

If landscape and vertical versions are both required, we compose for both while filming so faces, products and important action are not lost later.

For a broader campaign, see our social media video production service and our video production pricing.

THE FOUR USEFUL SHAPES

Most business video now fits into four aspect ratios

16:9 landscape

16:9

1920 × 1080
Websites, YouTube, presentations, case studies and conventional business films.

4:5 portrait

4:5

1080 × 1350
Feed-based social content where using more of the phone screen matters.

9:16 vertical

9:16

1080 × 1920
Reels, Stories, Shorts and full-height mobile social video.

1:1 square

1:1

1080 × 1080
A useful cross-platform option when square is specifically required.

FRAME IT BEFORE YOU CROP IT

Overlay guides show us what each version will actually keep

We can display 9:16, 4:5 and other frame guides on the camera monitor while still recording a wider master image. That means we can see whether a face, logo, product or action will survive the later crop before the shot is taken.

Open gate gives the editor more room

Where the camera supports it, open-gate recording captures a taller part of the sensor. It can give the edit extra picture above and below the subject when creating vertical or portrait versions later.

It does not make every shot magically fit every shape. Wide groups, sideways movement and off-centre compositions may still need a second take framed specifically for vertical.

WEBSITE VIDEO COUNTS TOO

A desktop banner and a phone screen may show completely different crops

Website hero footage is normally more useful when the important action stays away from the edges and can survive different browser shapes. A separate mobile version can be supplied where the composition matters too much to leave to an automatic crop.

ONE SHOOT, SEVERAL DELIVERABLES

Commission the filming day around the whole content family

A customer story, interview, product shoot or company film can often supply more than one finished video when the deliverables are agreed at the start.

A typical project might include a 16:9 main film, a 9:16 vertical edit, shorter feed clips and a dialogue-free website banner. Those do not need to become four unrelated productions.

That is particularly useful for interview filming and product video production, where one filming day can generate a lot of reusable material.

MULTI-FORMAT VIDEO FAQ

Questions worth deciding before filming

Safe zones for text and social video interfaces
Which video formats should we actually order?

Start with where the content will be published. Many businesses only need a 16:9 main film and a 9:16 vertical version; add 4:5 or 1:1 when the campaign genuinely needs them.

When does a vertical edit need its own shot?

Wide groups, side-to-side movement and products spread across the frame are common cases where a dedicated 9:16 take looks better than a severe crop.

What should stay inside a safe area?

Faces, logos, captions, products and important action should stay clear of areas likely to be cropped or covered by a platform interface.

What affects the cost of several versions?

The number of edits, their lengths, captions, graphics and whether extra portrait shots are needed all affect post-production time. See our video production pricing for starting points.
